Overview of Basic Connections

Basic connections are designed for small to mid-size premises where the installation is straightforward and typically limited to connecting the property to the electricity meter. These connections do not require any upgrades or modifications to the existing electricity distribution network.

Eligibility Criteria

• There must be an existing electricity supply to the property, and only a single point of connection is permitted.
• Electricity supplied to the premise cannot be resold to other customers within the property. This means embedded networks are not eligible for basic connections.

Technical Requirements

• Overhead Powerlines: The extension of powerlines from the distribution pole to the property must not exceed 45 metres. Additionally, within the boundaries of the property, powerline extensions must be no longer than 20 metres.
• Underground Connections: There must be an existing pit located adjacent to the property boundary. This pit must be adequate for the connection and not require any upgrades.
